THE TRIAL DOCUMENTATION OF MILITARY PUBLIC PROSECUTOR’S OFFICE OF LA SPEZIA
The material acquired from the Military Public Prosecutor’s Office of La Spezia is organized in six big folders, containing many files. They are subdivided as follows:

1. Defendants’ interrogations
2. Witnesses’ depositions in Inquiry and Debate
3. First and Second-degree sentences and relevant impugnments
4. Trial records
5. Various documentation
6. Photographic files and CD Rom copies of interest for investigations

A seventh folder contains the results of the investigation conducted by the SIB, in collaboration with the Italian Carabinieri Corps, with the testimonies given by many survivors and by the victims’ relatives both of Civitella and San Pancrazio.
Most witnesses are women or teenagers who were able to escape the slaughter perpetrated by the Nazi troops in the morning of the 29th of June. The copy filed in the Archive of the Municipality of Bucine is the original one in English, not yet translated into Italian, very interesting fact as normally copies used in the different trials are translated into Italian and so filtered and interpreted.
It is a very weighty folder, containing more than 300 depositions and the chronicle of facts as reconstructed by the English enquirers. The testimonies about the slaughter of San Pancrazio are forty-two and some of them result very punctual, detailed, and above all coherent and not contradictory the one with the other, perhaps because gathered in the months immediately following the tragic event.
